Review and Giveaway: Jambo's "Hootenanny"

Do you need a little funk to break up your funk?  How about having a hootenanny?  Just saying the word makes me smile, but in case that's not enough Jambo made a whole soundtrack for you.

The music hearkens to the roots of American rock and blues ranging from the deep south up to Chicago, while eliciting a feeling of imagination and whimsy.  When I asked my own children what they thought of the music they listed all the adjectives they could that were synonymous with "fun" and "exciting."  I am inclined to agree with them, this is a really fun album.  It's the unpretentious, uninhibited, musical equivalent of a five year old, and exactly why I'm so glad to be part of this Golden Age of children's music: good music for kids, not dumbed down drivel.

The kids may prefer "Ice Cream Soup" as their favourite song, I find myself unable to choose one.  Can I just list you the entire track list?  It'll make you smile (as would actually listening to the songs, samples of some are available on the website.)

There is so much hope, fun, love, joy, and optimism in the 42 minute album.  I recommend a dance party, family, friends, or just by yourself if you feel so inclined.  Fun for everyone! (even if it was written with children in mind...)
