Review and Giveaway: Mom's Stuff Salve

When I remember that my skin is the largest organ in my body, it really gets me thinking about what I do to it.  All those lotions and potions we slather on our skin are absorbed into our bodies -- how familiar are we with the ingredients?  As you know, here at Cherry Blossoms {The Blog} we are always on the lookout for products that we feel are safe solutions for our skincare needs.  After all, as I'm fond of saying, I don't want chapped knuckles, but I'm not exactly looking to embalm myself while I'm still living.  Let's keep the artificial gunk out of our bodies!

I happened upon Mom's Stuff Salve accidentally but am so glad I did!  This stuff is amazing.  It comes in a tub, appearing quite solid, but as soon as your scrape some off with your nail it emulsifies with your body and spreads very smoothly along your skin.

Mom's Stuff Salve is made of ingredients I know and understand, and is a concentrated mix so you aren't paying for water as you do with so many products on the shelves.  With an ingredient list that boasts EVOO, local beeswax, and pinyon pine pitch as the main components, every single item comes from nature, not a lab.  Also, with the exception of lanolin and beeswax the ingredients are all plant-based.

But what good does it do?  Simply: everything.

"Mom" of Mom's Stuff, Lee, is a humble woman who doesn't want to make those crazy claims you see on the shelves, preferring to let her product speak for itself.  Indeed her endorsements comprise pages of  testimonials of customers who have used this stuff to cure a variety of ailments from feet to cold sores to eczema to diaper rash and so much more.

With my sample jar I received for review I set out to use it on every skincare problem I could find in our house.  After two weeks of heavy use we have only made a dent in the amount of product that came.  Truly this concentrated formula will last a long time!  It was such a relief on our cracked knuckles and my chronic dry and itchy patches; we used it also on scabs, elbows, heels, face, and even armpits.  I'm not kidding: on a whim one morning while lathering the salve on my dry corners I decided to spread some into my armpits instead of using a stick deodorant.  Worst case scenario, I thought, I'll put some deodorant on if I start to smell.  Now I'll be honest, it is February and not August but I am a person who wears deodorant every day of the year.  Would Mom's Stuff be as effective in triple digit temperatures?  I'm not sure, but to be honest I don't think anything works as well in Texas summers as a cold pool.  I've been using it in place of deodorant ever since and as long as I have taken the time to have a shower then it works perfectly.

I love the way it absorbs quickly into my skin, my skin is protected but not oily and doesn't transfer residue to the items I touch.  I love the smell of the pinyon pine pitch, reminding me of the nature from whence it came, it's so refreshing and satisfying and not at all the stifling artificial fragrances to which we're accustomed.  Most of all I just love that it works; my knuckles are not cracked, my feet are smooth, my dry patches gone, and my skin refreshed.

You can order Mom's Stuff on the website, here, unless you're fortunate enough to visit the charming Horseshoe Mountain Pottery showroom in Spring City, Utah (showcasing the art of Lee and Joe!)

I'm more concerned with chemicals. I want to find a product that packs a strong punch without the chemicals. This product sounds great for when severe dry skin pops up.

Excellent question and the answer is that I do suffer from dry skin PATCHES (from head to toe!)and again - YES - I do worry (a lot!) about all the chemicals and unnatural ingredients in MANY dry skin (or any skin) formulas.

Your recommendation is highly welcome for your approval of both the ingredients and the excellent results you describe!

I have eczema and get these horrible patches of skin on my hands and feet that just crack and peel like mad and it's so hard to find something that will treat it painlessly. I would love to try this!

I live in a very dry climate, and have very dry skin. I get bumps on my arms and legs, but I've discovered using all-natural products have helped to curb the bumps.
